OUR SERVICE. Who is it for?

Anyone over the age of 16 in the Bradford area who has been bereaved can contact Bradford Bereavement Support. We aim to offer everyone equal access to our service irrespective of age, sexuality, religion, race, disability or culture. It is a free service and confidentiality is assured.*

How long does it take?

Counselling sessions are usually an hour long. The number of sessions is always determined by individual need. You will be given regular opportunities to review your progress. You may end counselling whenever you choose.

Where and when will I be seen?
Bradford Bereavement Support has the use of numerous quiet rooms at venues across the District. We will do our best to ensure that you are seen somewhere that is convenient for you. We will make home visits in special circumstances. We have counsellors who are available during the daytime and in the evening.

*Your work with your counsellor is confidential. Only if your counsellor felt that there was a risk of harm to yourself or others would this be broken. Your counsellor would usually discuss this with you first.

What happens next?

You will be asked for some basic information such as your name and contact details and when you would be available for counselling. You will be sent a letter with information about the service. You will then be contacted by your counsellor who will make the arrangements for your first meeting. We do sometimes have a waiting list and you will be given information about how long you might have to wait when you call.

Is counselling only available in English?

We are able to provide a service for people for whom English is not their first language.
